Building Information Modeling, of BIM, ontstond uit de nood aan duidelijke gedeelde informatie voor de betrokken partijen bij een gezamenlijke bouw. Wanneer bedrijven samen bouwen, is goede informatie-uitwisseling van groot belang. Daarbij kan het BIM-model, een gecentraliseerd 3D-model van het gebouw, een oplossing bieden en de kerngegevensbron vormen. Alle relevante informatie rondom het bouwproject is namelijk voor alle betrokken partijen en gedurende het hele proces in 3D beschikbaar.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear."
